His first acting job was as an extra in a commercial, where he played a Marine.He began his career in Australian television and film productions after graduating from NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts). His television credits include appearances in BlackJack: Sweet Science, Love Bytes, and White Collar Blue.
He landed his first film role as the lead in Oyster Farmer in 2004.Later, he appeared in Man-Thing, Feed, and the Australian miniseries The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant, for which he received nominations for Best Lead Actor in Television at the Australian Film Institute Awards in 2005 and Most Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series at the Logie Awards in 2006.
